A Grade II listed thatched pub on Axmouth's Church Street, with a 12th-century fireplace still working at the heart of the building - it's one of the oldest continuously used sites in the area. Michelin-trained chef Shaun Cassidy took the pub on in 2022, and the menu splits between sustainably caught fish landed by Axmouth's own small day-boat fleet and Neapolitan-style stone-baked pizzas from an Italian pastry chef on Fridays and Saturdays.
Carveries run every Wednesday lunch and evening and all day Sunday until sold out, and puddings include sticky toffee pudding and a local cheese selection. Cask ales come from Hall & Woodhouse, and the pub sits a mile from Seaton on the Jurassic Coast, serving good-value home-cooked food all day from 9am to 9.30pm - as much a breakfast and coffee stop as a dinner destination.
