Same family since 1872, which in pub terms counts as a dynasty. The Brendon family's free house sits above Bude's inner harbour, 200 yards from the sea-lock and Summerleaze beach, with a large garden that makes the most of the view. It calls itself the warmest welcome in the west and Bude's best known pub, and neither claim gets much argument locally. Family friendly, and dog friendly in the bar if not the restaurant.
Real ales come from Cornish producers and national brewers, and the kitchen turns out traditional pub food with the emphasis on homemade, local and seasonal, including vegan and gluten free options. Food runs midday to 9pm, seven days. Ten en-suite bedrooms upstairs, in double, twin and single, if you would rather not drive home. England matches are shown live through the 2026 World Cup. Bringing a dog? Say so when you book.
