The Bicton Inn has been on Bicton Street for more than a hundred years, through three reigns and two world wars, and still runs as a family-run free house rather than a managed chain pub. That independence shows in the beer - an ever-changing line-up of real ales, a lot of them from local breweries, which won it CAMRA Winter Pub of the Year in 2017 and Community Pub of the Year in 2021.
It's also one of the anchors of Exmouth's folk music scene, with live music running through the week and at weekends rather than as an occasional booking. Inside there's a pool table, dartboard, board games and an open fire, with a garden for when the weather allows; dogs and kids are both welcome, which keeps it a genuine local rather than a destination pub. It opens 11am to midnight, seven days a week, and the crowd is a proper mix of regulars, musicians and anyone who's wandered in for the ale.
