Stone Tree Dairy

Goats have grazed this corner of south Devon since at least the Domesday Book, which gives a certain weight to what started here in 2024. Set on a historic farm above the coast, Stone Tree Dairy milks its own grass-fed herd, out on clover-rich pasture, and turns that raw milk into cheese on site. The founders' argument is simple enough: happy goats and happy soil first, everything else follows. Britain's Best New Cheese at the 2025 Real Cheese Project suggests it holds up.
Four cheeses. The fresh curd is lemony and mousse-like, best eaten young on toast, whipped into a dip or stirred through pasta with tomatoes or mushrooms. Washed Pebble is a pungent soft washed rind, sold whole or cut, and good on a board or in a picnic bag. Redlap is the Alpine-style wheel, smooth and mellow. Salty and Old Salty go on salads, pizza or into the oven. Find them cut to order at Country Cheeses in Totnes, Topsham and Tavistock.
