Rafikis

BrunchCafe

Food hygiene rating: 5 out of 5

Susie and Kian spent years guiding treks and working abroad before the children needed to stay still, and Rafikis grew out of that in 2018. The St. Lawrence Lane site is their third venue and roughly seventh incarnation, opened in November 2022 in a building that began life as a petrol station and car workshop, then a furniture makers. They have made much of it themselves, from the tables to the plates, and it shows.

The kitchen is entirely veggie and vegan, with all day brunch, daily changing lunch specials, small plates and homemade cakes, all drawing on flavours picked up on their travels. It is licenced too, so coffee sits alongside beer, wine and cocktails, and they work with local suppliers and artists throughout. Worth knowing before you go: there are no daytime bookings, and evening bookings are for large groups only, so get in touch first.
