Knightor Winery

Vineyard

Food hygiene rating: 5 out of 5

Above the shores of St Austell Bay, a short hop from the Eden Project, this is a working winery first and a venue second - four acres of orchards and vines on the south Cornish coast, with a rustic barn at the centre of it. Boutique in scale, which is the point: the wine and the vermouth have both picked up awards, and the place has the feel of somewhere that grows things rather than simply pours them.

The offer splits three ways: wine tours and tastings that take you through what is actually made here, foodie feast nights in the barn running year round, and weddings and events for those wanting the setting to themselves. Vermouth is worth asking about, since it is not something most English wineries bother with. Book a tasting ahead rather than turning up, and pair it with a feast night if the dates line up.
