Fordington Gin

Started at a kitchen table in Dorset by founder Ros Nelmes, this is a gin built on a lifelong interest in flavour and a preference for local, organic produce. Ros spends a good deal of time travelling the country tasting what others are doing, which shows in the finished article: a London Dry with absinthe botanicals behind it, and a stated intolerance for a bad gin and tonic. It is made in Dorchester, and a member of Dorset Food & Drink.

The house gin is gentle but distinctive, with aniseed and lemon balm bringing lightness to a smooth, soft base. For something with more backbone, the award-winning Gurt Lush comes in at 50% ABV, described fairly as seafaring strength.
