The Devon Arms started life as a coaching inn in the late 18th century and has kept that historic character through to today, a beamed, traditional pub on Northumberland Place two minutes' walk from Teignmouth's harbour and beaches. Ian ran it as landlord for 38 years, the longest tenure of any publican in the town, before his death in 2022; his family, led by Jackie, have kept it running since.
It works as both a pub and a small guesthouse, with cosy, affordable rooms from around £30 a night making it a practical base for visiting the harbour and seafront. The bar has a pool table, dartboard and jukebox, real ales from local brewers, and a lovely enclosed beer garden for outdoor drinking. It's the kind of pub locals treat as their own and visitors are made to feel just as welcome in. Northumberland Place, Teignmouth.
