Buddy's @ Redrock is a refreshment stop on the coast path between Dawlish and Dawlish Warren, opened on 7 February after months spent renovating a dilapidated building at Red Rock. It's run by Paul Michaels and partner Jack McKimm, together with close friends Craig Harvey and Sharna Hales, and named after Paul and Jack's much-loved springer spaniel Buddy, who died aged thirteen not long before the cafe opened.
The menu is simple and geared to people out walking the coast path: coffee, cakes and other refreshments year-round, with hot food and ice cream added through the summer months. Dogs get fresh water and treats too, which matters given how many of the customers arrive on four legs as much as two. It's earned a strong local reputation fast, rated the best restaurant in Dawlish Warren on Tripadvisor and holding a top food hygiene rating from Teignbridge District Council.
