The Pantry on Bank Street

SandwichesBakery

Food hygiene rating: 5 out of 5

The Pantry on Bank Street is a small, homely cafe on Teignmouth's Bank Street, the kind of place regulars pop into for coffee and cake or a full cooked breakfast. Breakfasts are cooked to order using free-range eggs and thick-cut bacon, and the kitchen also turns out homemade soups, farmhouse sandwiches, baguettes, toasties and paninis through the day, with locally made pasties and a proper cream tea on the menu too. Ingredients are sourced from local independent suppliers where possible rather than a big wholesaler.

The cafe is set up to be genuinely welcoming - there's a ramp at the entrance for wheelchair users and dogs are allowed in, which keeps it popular with people walking the seafront nearby. Service is friendly and the pace unhurried, more neighbourhood cafe than tourist stop, even though it sits just off the town's main shopping street. It's a reliable spot for a mid-morning coffee or a simple lunch without any fuss.
