The Old Pottery Restaurant

RestaurantCafe

Food hygiene rating: 5 out of 5

The Old Pottery Restaurant sits inside the House of Marbles complex on Pottery Road, on the edge of Bovey Tracey where the road starts climbing onto Dartmoor. The building is the genuine article - old pottery workings, with three furnaces from the original kilns still standing inside and black-and-white photographs of the works on the walls, giving the dining room more history than most restaurant fit-outs manage.

By day it runs breakfast, lunch and cream teas with homemade cakes, using fresh, locally sourced ingredients; it also puts on evening events under the name Pottery By Night. A conservatory and garden with outdoor seating extend the space when the weather's good, and it's set up for families - dog-friendly, with an outdoor play area and an indoor marble run to keep children busy between courses. The kitchen won a Taste of the West Gold award in 2024.
