The Huntsman Inn

Dog FriendlyPub

Food hygiene rating: 5 out of 5

Ide sits just off the A30 on Exeter's western edge, close enough for a quick run out of the city and far enough to feel like a proper village stop. The Huntsman Inn stands next door to the well known College, and keeps to the traditional Devon pub format: a cosy, relaxed bar, local ales, home-cooked food. Dogs are welcome, there is a car park, and the outside space is generous rather than an afterthought.

That outside space runs to a patio, covered areas and heated lodges, which makes it a rare thing round here: a garden that works in February as well as July. Kitchen and bar hours split the day, with service from midday to 2.30pm and again from 5pm, or 6pm Tuesday to Thursday. Closed Mondays. Sundays run straight through from midday to 8.30pm, which is the session worth planning around.
