The Hare & Hounds

The Hare & Hounds is a country free house at Putts Corner between Sidmouth and Honiton, wooden beams and log fires inside, valley views from the garden and the children's play area. The carvery is what it's known for - Devon meat and locally sourced vegetables, served lunchtimes, evenings and all day Sunday - and reviewers single out the roast potatoes as often as the meat itself, with one calling it simply the best carvery they'd ever had. The wider menu mixes traditional pub classics with more contemporary dishes.

The pub runs a Tap Room and a Lounge Bar, both dog-friendly on leads, plus two car parks and four electric vehicle charging points at 7kW, bookable through the Monta app. Bookings are required within 48 hours of a visit or for any Sunday table, and the loyalty scheme earns two points for every pound spent, redeemable against future meals.
