The Copley Arms

BritishPizzaDog FriendlyPub

Food hygiene rating: 5 out of 5

Sitting beside the River Seaton with the beaches at Seaton and Downderry five minutes away, this 17th century pub has the stone walls, beamed ceilings and fires throughout that the century suggests, plus eight bedrooms if you would rather not drive home. The large riverside gardens and patio do the summer work; the fires handle the rest of the year. Dogs are welcome throughout the pub and restaurant, which is not always a given.

The kitchen leans on Westcountry produce for a menu of pub classics and British favourites, with pizzas and brioche rolls alongside at lunch and pizza again in the evening. Sunday roasts run until they sell out. The traditional bar is open all day, every day, with local ales, lagers and a varied wine list. Book a table for evenings and weekends, when it gets busy; garden tables are first come, first served.
