The Agricultural Inn

A few minutes north of Exeter, down a winding country lane in Brampford Speke, you'll find an 18th century pub opposite the village church. Exposed beams, open fires and gardens do the heavy lifting on charm, but the kitchen is the reason people make the drive: an AA Rosette for culinary excellence, and a menu built on high quality British ingredients from award-winning farmers and producers. Dogs welcome throughout.

Casual fine dining is the framing, real ale kept and poured properly is the other half of the story, alongside local craft beers and ciders, a wine list mixing favourites with lesser-known bottles, and signature cocktails made with house-infused syrups and shrubs. There's afternoon tea with scones, clotted cream and sweet treats, heated pods bookable Tuesday to Sunday, and a Secret Garden behind the car park serving Asian street food in season. Food stops at 5pm on Sundays, so go early.
