Nelson's Cat Cafe opened in Teignmouth in 2025, started by a woman named Sabby after she adopted a rescue cat called Nelson and found out first-hand how therapeutic time with cats can be. Booking is required to keep numbers manageable, and the cafe operates on a non-profit basis, with proceeds after running costs going to animal rescues and charities. Food and drink are bought separately from the visit fee. It is an adults-and-teens space rather than a family cafe: entry is 13 and over, with 13 to 16 year olds needing an adult with them, and no personal pets are allowed alongside the resident cats.
