The Dartmoor Halfway Inn was rebuilt from a derelict pub into a proper hub on Ashburton Road at Bickington, on the road up towards Dartmoor National Park - a stopping point built with walkers and cyclists coming off the moor in mind as much as anyone passing through. The kitchen runs traditional home cooking with a specials board that changes daily and a menu that shifts with the seasons, alongside a lighter bites section and vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options, plus malt whiskies, gins and liqueurs behind the bar for anyone not driving on.
Sunday roasts are what most people come back for, generous portions and a proper dessert list, alongside a decent range of local ales and ciders. Open daily from 8am to 10pm, with plenty of room for larger parties as well as a table for two, and enough space that it rarely feels like it's turning people away.
