Food hygiene rating: 4 out of 5

The Warren House Inn stands alone in the middle of Dartmoor near Postbridge, the third highest pub in England, with no neighbours but the moor. Legend has it the fire has been burning since 1845, and nobody who has walked in out of the weather has ever wanted to test the claim.

It is everything a moorland pub should be: real fires, honest food, local ale, and a welcome that 96 per cent of nearly nine hundred reviewers vouch for. Dogs, walkers and mud are all expected. Ring - opening hours shift with the seasons out here.
