The Highweek Village Inn

The Highweek Village Inn has been part of the Highweek community, on the edge of Newton Abbot, since 2006. It's a proper village local: a long bar, a separate dining room, a terrace beer garden and a car park round the back, real ales and ciders on tap alongside the usual lagers, wines and spirits. The kitchen runs small plates - belly pork bites, halloumi, chicken strips, prawns, three for £18.50 - through to burgers like the house beefburger and the double-stacked "Gob All Mighty" at £18.50, plus steaks, scampi, fish and chips, pies and curries.

Sunday carvery runs 12 to 4pm with a choice of one to four meats, Yorkshire puddings and seasonal vegetables, priced from £15 to £21, and there's a vegetarian option at £15. Saturday mornings bring a breakfast menu up to the "Gut Buster" at £15, and live music is a regular fixture, with local bands and acoustic acts booked most months. A function room seating 40 makes it a working village hall as much as a pub, and it's dog-friendly and family-friendly through the week.
