The Dolphin Inn

The Dolphin sits on the banks of the Yealm Estuary in the heart of Newton Ferrers - a traditional waterside pub with a contemporary feel, and views that do a good deal of the work. It is kept by landlord Johnny, known locally as Blondie, who grew up in and around Newton and Noss and has over forty years in hospitality behind him, having started at fifteen.

Taking on The Dolphin in 2019 was, by his own account, a homecoming, and it shows in how the place is run. The menu leans on fresh seafood, seasonal ingredients and quality local produce, with a thoughtful wine selection and West Country beers alongside. Add live music nights and the occasional firework, and it stays a pub rather than becoming a restaurant with a view.
