The Cafe on the Green has been serving Widecombe-in-the-Moor since 1926, set right on the green in the middle of one of Dartmoor's best-known villages. It's built around a proper Devon cream tea - fresh-baked scones, jam and clotted cream - alongside a breakfast and lunch menu and cake served through the day. Ponies, cows and sheep wander the green outside, part of the view from the tables, and the cafe has stayed a family-run stop for walkers, cyclists and locals for close to a hundred years.

It's closed Mondays and open Tuesday to Sunday, 10am to 4pm, with breakfast served until 11:30am and lunch from midday; drinks, cakes and cream teas run all day. The cafe is dog-friendly, which along with its spot in the heart of the moor makes it a regular stop for people working their way around this stretch of Dartmoor.
