Tandoori Nights holds a spot on the Strand in the middle of Exmouth, close enough to the seafront to pick up passing trade but built around a loyal regular crowd who treat it as their local curry house. The kitchen sticks to traditional Indian cooking rather than fusion twists, running through the familiar territory of tandoori grills, balti pans and rogan josh alongside milder korma and passanda dishes for anyone who wants the flavour without the heat.
The dining room is spacious enough that the restaurant markets itself for birthdays and anniversaries as well as an ordinary Tuesday night out, and it keeps long, dependable hours - open every day of the week including bank holidays, from 5pm until 11pm. Papadums and onion bhajis are the usual way in, with balti dishes cooked and served in the traditional pan, thick with garlic, onion, tomato and fresh coriander. Takeaway and online ordering run alongside table service, so it works equally well as a night out or a Friday order-in.
