Food hygiene rating: 5 out of 5

TALAY Thai Kitchen's second site opened in Porthleven in 2026, in the China Clay Store on the harbour - a building that had most recently been Cantina and, before that, one of Rick Stein's Cornwall restaurants. It's run by the same team as the original St Ives kitchen, serving the same Thai tapas-style small plates, papaya salad, seafood curries and Thai milk tea, cooked to the same recipes. Like St Ives, it's walk-ins only, no bookings, first come first served, with a roof terrace looking out over the harbour.

The move was announced at Porthleven Food Festival, with the team promising "same unreal Thai flavours, new postcode." Early reviews point to the same strengths as the original - busy service, immediate seating despite the no-booking policy, and views to match the food. The restaurant holds a 5-star food hygiene rating.
