Summerskills is Plymouth's oldest independent brewery, still family owned, working out of a unit off Billacombe Road with a small shop on site. No visitor centre and no theatre - just the brewery and the beer.

The range is built for drinking rather than collecting. Start Point is the session ale, golden and clean with a delicate bitter finish; Devon Dew runs honey yellow with sweet lemon upfront and a long grapefruit finish; Westward Ho! is amber and zesty. Indiana's Bones is the one for winter, a rich dark warmer, soft chocolate in the mouth with a characteristic Goldings aroma.
