Smith's Wines & Spirits

Smith's is Iain Smith's wine shop on Magdalen Road, and it runs on conversation rather than a price list - there isn't one on the website, quite deliberately. The pitch is an invitation: no more than a desire to share the simple pleasures life has to offer, as long as they involve food and wine.

What you like as an individual is what is right for you, and anybody who tries to tell you different can be safely ignored. That is more or less the house philosophy, and it makes this a good shop to arrive at without a plan - you will leave with something you had not heard of, whether an everyday quaffer or a bottle to stand up to a slow roast shoulder. Smith's handles dinner parties and wedding drinks too, and will take a call or an email if you cannot get in for a chat.
