Food hygiene rating pending

Kitchen residencies live or die on the room they land in, and this one has a good one: The Grapevine on Victoria Road, a community led brew pub that is home to Crossed Anchors beers, welcomes families and dogs, and has a courtyard with actual grapes ripening in it. The cooking takes its cue from the great American diner, built on ingredients from Devon's larder. Straightforward intentions, properly backed up.

Eat with a pint of Water Lane IPA, a Crossed Anchors NEIPA hopped with El Dorado, Idaho 7 and Strata for tropical fruit and a soft finish, or a Kraken sour in raspberry, cherry, elderflower or peach. Cold takeaway cans run from £3 a single to £48 for 24, which is the beach sorted. Live music on Saturday nights, and the charity quiz kicks off at 19:30 on Mondays.
