Oliver's Butchers & Pie Makers

Oliver's on Fore Street was named Best Butchers in Devon at the England Business Awards, and the shop wears it lightly: a young, high-class butcher and pie maker doing everything in-house and explaining any cut to anyone who asks. Fifteen thousand people follow the shop on Instagram, which is not normal for a butcher.

Locally sourced free range meat and eggs anchor the counter - rare breed beef, local goat when they can get it, and a sausage range that runs from plain pork to pork and caramelised onion. The pies and sausage rolls made on site are the other reason for the queue.
