Naz occupies the Old Telephone Exchange on Queen Street in Newton Abbot, a townhouse villa with a glass-fronted extension and a garden terrace rather than a standard high street unit - the building alone sets it apart from most Indian restaurants in the town. The menu covers the familiar ground of meat curries, fresh fish and seafood dishes and a solid range of vegetarian options, cooked to traditional Indian recipes rather than a stripped-back takeaway list.
Buffet nights and thali nights run alongside the standard à la carte menu, giving regulars a cheaper way in and a reason to come back on a set night of the week. It keeps late hours - open until 10.30pm Sunday to Thursday and 11.30pm on Friday and Saturday - and takes on private functions and events with menus built around the occasion, from birthdays to larger group bookings. Home delivery and street parking make it as workable for a takeaway night as for sitting down in the garden terrace on a warm evening.
