Mrs G's opened on Exeter Road in April 2025, taking over the old Phone Solutions shop and turning it into a lunch counter. Owner Amy Gow spent eighteen and a half years as kitchen manager at Exeter Road Primary School before starting the business, and she's lived in Exmouth for over thirty years - the shop has the feel of somewhere run by someone who already knows half the street.
Everything is made fresh from scratch each day: sandwiches, wraps, subs and pasta pots, with customers choosing their own fillings rather than picking from a fixed list. Ingredients are sourced locally where Amy can manage it, and the menu has grown gradually since opening, adding jacket potatoes, sausage rolls, pasties and soup as the shop's found its feet. The branding is a distinctive purple, and the whole operation is built around the idea of proper, nutritious lunches rather than pre-packaged convenience food - for both adults and the schoolkids Amy used to feed in her old job.
