Miles Tea & Coffee Shop

Miles Tea & Coffee has been trading on this stretch of Somerset coast since 1888, and it's still family-run more than 135 years on. The tea-tasters cup every blend each morning to keep quality consistent, a habit that goes back generations, and the coffee is roasted fresh daily at the company's own roastery over in Porlock under the guidance of their barista. The West Country Original blend, their best-known tea, has picked up awards over the years.

The Minehead shop, at Porlock House on Stephenson Road, functions as the company's head office as well as a retail counter, selling loose leaf teas, traditional teabags, Tea Kites, Heavenly Hot Chocolate and freshly roasted coffee beans and ground coffee, alongside click-and-collect for online orders. It keeps office hours, Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 5pm, rather than café hours, so it's more of a specialist shop than somewhere to sit and drink a cup - the sister shop in Porlock, next to the roastery, is the one for that.
