Little Bowhay

Little Bowhay is the Wilson family's smallholding at Shillingford Abbot, just outside Exeter - Martin, Jane and Sarah make an artisanal range of chutneys, jams, marmalades, curds, cordials and juice by hand in small batches, from fruit grown on their own land wherever possible and other ingredients sourced locally and ethically. Several lines carry a Taste of the West Gold award, including the single-variety apple juices pressed from old Devon orchard apples - Adams Pearmain, Bramley, Blenheim Orange, Discovery, Lucombe's Pine and Sops in Wine among them.

The range runs to more than twenty chutneys (from apple and ginger to a stout onion marmalade and a ploughman's), a dozen-plus jams, five marmalades, a run of fruit cordials from elderflower to gooseberry and ginger, pickles and pickled hen eggs. You won't find them in a shop window - Little Bowhay sells through farmers' markets, local agricultural shows and a handful of retail stockists, under their own motto: Devon Grown, Devon Proud.
