Heydays Devon

Dog FriendlyRestaurant

Food hygiene rating: 5 out of 5

Sideshore, the watersports hub on Exmouth seafront, has the town's best outlook onto the water, and Heydays makes the most of it. The approach is easy-going all-day dining rather than anything ceremonious: good dogs welcome, walk-ins welcome, and a kitchen and bar that expect you to arrive salty and windblown rather than dressed for it. It reads as a coastal restaurant that has worked out what people actually want by the sea.

Alongside the regular menu there are one-off evenings, including a thali night from chef Sankar drawing on the Bangalore tradition of curries, rice, vegetables, breads and sweets on one platter. Friday music nights run every other week through summer with a rotating roster of local acts. Gift vouchers are available. Booking is worth doing at the height of summer, though tables are held back for walk-ins and they will find you a spot at the bar if needed.
