Hanlons Brewery

Hanlons started a long way from Devon. John O'Hanlon, Kerry-born and rugby-playing, bought a run-down pub in Islington, rechristened it O'Hanlons, and started brewing in a railway arch in Vauxhall because customers kept asking him for Guinness. The first beer was Port Stout. The brewery moved to farm buildings at Newton St Cyres in 2000, and was later bought by Dan Taylor and Jim Bungard, who kept the existing staff and shortened the name.

It is family-run, Taste of the West and SALSA accredited, and the beer is made without added preservatives. There is a shop at the brewery, sheds you can book privately, and a burger menu worth planning the visit around.
