Franklins overlooks the Strand in the heart of Exmouth, running continental-style cafe culture seven days a week across three connected spaces - a cafe bar, an upstairs restaurant, and a busy outdoor terrace looking out over the street. Between the three areas it seats well over a hundred people, which lets it handle a lazy coffee, a full dinner and everything between without feeling like three different businesses stitched together.

The kitchen serves Segafredo coffee and an all-day breakfast menu, with lunch running from 11am until late. Local Budleigh crab sandwiches sit alongside Thai fish cakes, nachos, classic burgers and a Smokey Joe that regulars keep coming back for, plus toasted teacakes and vegetarian options for anyone after something lighter. The cocktail list runs from traditional to modern, and prices stay accessible - snacks from £2.50 in the cafe bar, restaurant mains up to £16 for steak or lamb - which keeps it working for a quick coffee stop as well as a proper night out.
