Roborough, on the northern edge of Plymouth, is where these thick cut crisps get their crunch. The potatoes are sustainably sourced and the cooking is done by hand, which is the sort of claim plenty of brands make and rather fewer build a whole operation around. The stated aim is to pack as much of Devon as possible into every handful, and the language they use about it is refreshingly plain: honest quality, it's in the bag.
The range covers hand cooked British crisps, popcorn and other snacks, all made in Devon and pitched squarely at real snacking rather than anything delicate. Rustic, hearty and full of flavour is how they describe it, and the thick cut is the point. Best understood as the bag that goes alongside a sandwich in the sun, or after a surf. Look for them wherever South West producers are stocked.
