Boatyard Cafe and Bakery

Boatyard is a small bakery on Exeter's historic quayside, down by the canal basin, baking real bread fresh every single morning. Doors open at 8am for sourdough loaves, pastries, coffee and hand-crafted drinks, and the pastry list changes from week to week.

The team are bakers and baristas in equal measure, and the sandwiches deserve as much attention as the loaves do. Being independent, they lean hard on local suppliers and artisan producers, and their bread turns up in a good number of Exeter's best restaurants, cafes and food shops. The bakery and kitchen close at 2.30, though the counter and takeaway drinks run until closing - or you can have loaves delivered to your door.
