Alder Vineyard

Alder sits at the foot of Dartmoor near Lewdown, family-run and, as they put it, devoted to the vines and the glass. The views across the valley are a good part of the appeal, and the year here runs visibly from muddy boots at winter pruning to sunshine across the rows at harvest.

The tour and tasting is the way to see it properly, and there are gift vouchers if you are buying for someone else - including one pairing the tour with a winemakers' lunch for two. The kitchen and bar serve breakfast, lunch, coffee and cake and were named Best Casual Dining Venue in Devon in 2025, so a chilled glass and something to eat in the sun is reason enough on its own.
